The Accounts Assistant (Accounts Receivable) role is a key part of the Accounts Receivable team, responsible for ensuring accurate client billing and supporting the departments credit control functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with all client billing processes, including both revenue and pass-through costs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, working with multiple systems.
- Facilitate smooth client onboarding by collaborating with sales and client teams to gather and validate client contact information, and adhere to proper invoicing protocols
- Address and resolve payment inquiries from clients and internal departments promptly, while also proactively identifying and providing additional support to accounts needing special attention
- Contribute to weekly and monthly credit control activities to maintain healthy cash flow
- Reconcile cash receipts with ledger entries to ensure financial accuracy
- Assist in posting accounting journals as requested by the Financial Accountant to facilitate month-end closing procedures
- Conduct regular reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, specifically focusing on those related to pass-through costs
- Support client account teams by addressing internal billing inquiries and maintaining accurate financial records
- Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable Manager and Group Financial Accountant on ad hoc tasks and queries to ensure operational efficiency and compliance
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Highly detail orientated with a strong analytical and methodical approach to tasks.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, complemented by the ability to take initiative effectively.
- Proven experience within an Accounts Receivable environment.
- Confident working with a complex billing system.
- Passion for accounting and finance with an aptitude for numbers.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume, transaction-oriented environment.
- Highly organised with the ability to re-prioritise workload depending on the urgency of requests.
- Proven competence of working in a team environment to achieve a shared goal but also confident when working independently.
- Can demonstrate experience in effective stakeholder management.
- Approachable individual with excellent, interpersonal and communication skills capable of building strong working relationships with internal staff and clients.
- Computer literate with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (or Google Suite equivalent), specifically Excel where intermediate skills are essential (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, basic data manipulation).
- AAT part/fully qualified preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience working with Xero is preferable but not required.

Standard hours are from 9.00am to 5.30pm, there’s flexibility if agreed in advance with your line managers (it may also be necessary on occasions to work outside of these hours).
