ROLE OVERVIEW

Croud is a digital marketing agency with a unique business model, recently named a Sunday Times Best Place to Work 2023.

Croud’s Head of Data Science leads the agency’s team of Data Scientists. The team is responsible for designing and delivering Croud’s highest value products and services: those that will potentially have the greatest impact on our clients’ businesses. These include solutions for discovering unknown unknowns, and for modelling and predicting media and advertising effectiveness.

Data Science is one of the five teams that makes up Global Analytics at Croud. Global Analytics was newly assembled and structured in June 2023. Its five team leads are delivering industry-leading, high-value services for clients; and creating a differentiating and highly-profitable division of the Croud business.

Croud operates a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days a week based in our London office and the remaining days from home if you wish.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The efficiency of your business. Run your team of data scientists so that you meet your profit target. Achieve this by productionising and scaling your products and services, and by focusing effort across short- and medium-term outcomes, as well as the longer-term big bets. Develop and apply the resources of the Croudie Network wherever it makes sense to do so. In collaboration with our Head of Data Engineering, leverage the resources of our data engineering team. Achieve your profitability target also through good relationships with clients, and with great commercial and pricing decisions.
• Growth through new business. Deliver on a growth plan for Global Analytics through the development and scaling of propositions and services that win new business; and also through your partnership with the Client Leadership and Sales teams. In that partnership, be systematic in developing and pursuing cross- and up-sell opportunities. Ensure your Data Science capability and approach is represented in one-pagers, sales decks, and client value proposition frameworks.
• Leadership and delivery. Lead your team of Data Scientists in their contribution to profitable projects. Maintain a clear roadmap for projects and ongoing services, and commitments for both clients and your team. Ensure they are delivered and met.
• The expansion of our capabilities. Data Science at Croud includes clustering and predictive modelling, modelling in studies of advertising effectiveness, the application of generative AI for natural language, and more. You’ll be an experienced, credible, trusted expert in these fields and more, and so you’ll be equipped to extend the boundaries of the agency’s capabilities.

• You’re an experienced leader of Data Science teams. You know how to get the best out of data scientists, where each has their own style and strengths. You know how to focus resources according to client needs and the commercial opportunity
• You’re a strong communicator, as effective with non-technical stakeholders as with technical colleagues
• You’re skilled in developing products for data science. You know how to develop with efficiency, and how to focus investment according to customer demand and the business case
• You have an expert professional background in data science for marketing. You will have a deep technical understanding of techniques and methodologies in causal inference, and for propensity and media mix modelling. You’ll be an expert Python developer for data science
• You’re experienced in exploring and building on GCP’s cloud platform services for AI and Machine Learning, on services for data transformation, storage and serving, and on related infrastructure
• You can use Git version control in a team
• You understand risk and best practice relating to security, InfoSec and Data Protection, for clients and for your own business

Standard hours are from 9.00am to 5.30pm, there’s flexibility if agreed in advance with your line managers (it may also be necessary on occasions to work outside of these hours).
